In typically Colorado fashion, fucking denied. On my first peak and less than half a mile from the summit, I already had to bail. No surprise this will probably become a reoccurring theme, but thunderstorms are no joke and are a fact of life in the Colorado mountains.
After hiding on the side of Pikes Peak for an hour, I was finally able to drop elevation and make camp. A bit of a disappointing way to end the day. That was until the city beneath me lit up. Wow! There was just something special in how the city lights twinkled underneath a towering mountain. I couldn't help but feel mesmerized by the Springs at night while eating chicken wings and drinking soda in my tent. Made today's snafu totally worth it! Comments are closed.
